Benchmark: 150 700 impressions, 42 clicks, 0 conversions, $10cost - in 30 minutes!

I have no idea how to feel about said statistics. I know to many it would not seem remarkable at all. To seasoned Internet marketers it might even seem downright laughable, but here are my thoughts.

I am brand new to this and I am astounded! My simple little add made over 150 700 impressions. To someone (me) who is trying to get out of the newspaper based model it sounds phenomenal. In the traditional medium there is no way that my ad would circulate to a crowd of 150 700, with 42 people remotely interested and only costing me $10. And all of that happening in 30 minutes!

Now for the downside of this picture. My add generated 42 clicks and 0 conversions. Not something that is completely shocking, but what it does tell me is that the landing page is not effective at keeping those visitors. It may very well also be that the product may not be what the visitors looked for. Seeing that it was advertised on a social network, my initial thoughts are that those who clicked the link might have hoped to receive something free.

After reading some more online marketing materials and looking at some ideas for great landing pages I can see quite a few flaws in my campaign.

I will possibly cancel the run before the 7 day time period to minimize loss. However, I have a budget of loss that I've determined to be acceptable. If I get within 60% of this figure, I will pull the add, reexamine the offer and try again.

Again, can I just show my awe?! I can't believe all that happened in 30 minutes. I think I am going to love Internet marketing!
